Virus Removal Software - Remove all viruses and malicious data Print
Written by CompuPair

Virus removal software is a must on today's computers that are connected to the internet. With all those viruses, adware and spyware files out their on the net, your computer is not safe unless you have virus removal software.

Good virus protection is the cure for the common computer cold, but with so many solutions out their, it can be tough to find the right one.

Many people have no idea about the different types of viruses, what files to scan or how to properly configure virus removal software. Let's fix that right now by discussing those problems and how to address them.

First let's talk about the many different types of viruses that your computer can be infected with and how they actually infect it.

  • Worms - Worms are the worst in my opinion because they duplicate themselves and use email to spread the worm to other computers. They do that by looking at your address book and send themselves to all the email addresses in there.
  • File Virus - File viruses can attach to software so that when you run the software, the virus will load itself into your memory, so that it can then infect other files.
  • Trojan Viruses - We all know the story of the Trojan horse, and now viruses have that same concept applied to them. A Trojan virus is software that you think will perform a function, but really does something different that is harmful to your computer. Another type of Trojan virus is a backdoor Trojan, which basically allows someone to take control of your computer through your network or the internet.
  • Boot Sector Virus - A boot sector virus is a much older type of virus that has existed for a very long time, but is not really common anymore. This type of virus would infect a computer's startup program so that the virus would take affect as soon as the computer would be started.
  • Adware - Adware is really not a virus, but can be considered one since it snuck onto your computer, and is very annoying. Basically adware creates pop-up advertisements on your computer, even if you are not connected to the internet!
  • Spyware - Worst then Adware is Spyware, because Spyware actually is spying on you. This type of virus collects user details, passwords and possibly even credit card numbers. Spyware is usually with Adware because the Adware people use your statistics from the Spyware to make better advertisements, and round and round we go.
  • Page Hijackers - This type of virus redirects you to the infectors website of choice, whenever you type in website URLs or click on a link. If this happens it really is an indication that your computer has Adware and Spyware on it.
  • Macro Viruses - This type of virus uses commands embedded in other software to infect and spread to other files viewed by that very same software. For example, you have a Word document and Word gets infected with a macro virus, then most likely your Word document will get damaged.

Now that you know the many types of viruses, you need a good virus removal program to get rid of them should they ever infect your computer. So what should you look for in virus removal software?

Well it should be able to remove all of the following viruses mentioned above, which was worms, file viruses, Trojans, adware, spyware and macro viruses. This information can be found on the virus removal software product box, or on the web page you are purchasing it from.

There are many different virus software companies out their, but only a handful are worthy of an installation. I recommend AVG Anti-Virus, because it is free, and one of the highest rated virus removal solutions in the world. It is also easy to use, and they provide you with updates on a daily basis.

That means whenever new viruses come out you will be protected against them. I know that this is a really good deal because everyday new viruses are created and unleashed on the net, so you can rest assured that you will always be protected.

Whether you get the virus removal software that I recommend or not, you need to configure it properly to fit your needs. Usually virus software can control your email, web browsing, firewall settings and much more. This control can sometimes make your emails not be sent out, stop you from visiting a website or stop a program from connecting to the internet through the firewall.

All virus removal software has options where you can change them so these problems don't happen. Be sure to look through all options and set them to what you want them to be, right after you install your virus removal software.
