Written by CompuPair

To install a PCI card into a desktop computer takes only a few minutes. All you need to complete the job is my handy step-by-step photo-illustrated guide and a Philips screwdriver.

Please note that there are many PCI adapters that can be installed in your computer system. Therefore, this brief guide only covers the physical installation of the card itself. If you wanted to install peripheral attachments, you should consult the installation directions that come with the card.

Before you begin to install a PCI card , make sure you ground yourself to prevent injury. You can ground yourself by touching any of various household objects, such as a water pipe, a lamp or another grounded electrical device. And as an extra safety precaution, you should unplug all the power cords before you begin to work.

power-off-step 1. First, please make sure that your computer is shut down and the power switch is on the OFF position.

plug-internal-cables-in 8. If there are some internal or external cables that you need to connect to your PCI card, then read the PCI card's instruction manual and find out, then attach them in the correct locations.
Put case cover back on 9. With that done, you can put the case cover back on.
Secure cover screws 10. Then screw the cover screws back in place to keep it on..
Plug power cord back in 11. Plug your power cord back in.
Switch power supply on 12. And last but not least, turn the power supply on by switching it back to the ON position.
